From Gerry Miller:

"THANK YOU for your dedication to the Pony Express re-ride, 2024 edition. I am always blown away by the “can do” spirit that you all exhibit throughout the three-day transverse of Nevada. Again, we were challenged with weather that limited the use of external antennas due to lightening; flooding of the trail on one section; and Pony Folk staffing issues. In my opinion we performed flawlessly throughout these challenges. Would I do some things differently? Yes, I would. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding when your section was canceled/ re-routed at the last minute.

I appreciate the time/ effort/ lodging expenses/ fuel expenses/ other expenses that you contribute to the re-ride. It is important that I ask you to submit an estimate of your hours and mileage to me so I can send them up the chain to the National Park Service for consideration when they grant money to the National Pony Express Association to help with this event.

This year you all did a great job in coordinating with the Ride Captains, Relays, etc before the ride. I think that worked well. The Matrix and the Handbook are just the skeletal structure and you put the meat on the bones through your interactions with all involved in your section(s).

Again, big THANKS to you for all that you did to make this a success in providing a communications support system. This year we had some first timers who really stepped right in and fulfilled their assignments very well.

The folks at Austin Airport that come up from the southern portion of the state every year to bolster our communication backbone are simply incredible. Every year they innovate with new technology and with the help of setting up linked repeaters along with our frequency coordinator and repeater owners.

I can’t thank you all enough for your dedication to this event…..follow pony’s……relays…..base stations…..repeater owners/ coordinators….

I appreciate your comments/ questions so that we can incorporate them into next year’s re-ride
