Why join SIERA Ham Radio Club?

Ham Radio clubs offer opportunities for learning, community engagement, and personal growth. Ham clubs cater to various aspects of the hobby, from technical expertise to social interaction, making them invaluable for anyone interested in amateur radio. Whether you’re just starting or looking to dive deep, finding the right club will help you learn more and provide a way to become more involved in amateur radio.

Local clubs are the backbone of the amateur radio community. They provide support by sponsoring radio classes, mentoring new Hams, and holding licensing sessions. Club meetings are also a place where Hams can get together, share technical advice, or learn about the latest in radio communication. SIERA club, and nearly all amateur clubs, have a tacit mission to help in emergency situations – to help provide VHF/HF communications avenues when the normal cellular backbone is damaged - unavailable or intermittent at the time. Also, we are a historically-founded club, originally formed to provide maintenance and support for the SIERA Repeater [NV7CV] at Leviathan Peak, but we also have close association with the Tahoe TARA club and repeater [NR7A].
