HAM RADIO & EMERGENCY 911 COMMUNICATIONS FOR TWO
VEHICLE INCIDENTS
Two calls for assistance were heard on the SIERA Repeater.
On Saturday, August 29th, a 4x4 vehicle driving on Black Mountain Rd. near Walker River Park got stuck. He was unable to free his vehicle,
but he did have his ham radio handy. Tuning in to the NV7CV repeater on Leviathan Peak, the ham called out to anyone who might be monitoring. The

The second call on Sunday, August 30th, involved a serious motorcycle accident on Hwy 89 near Leviathon Peak. In this rescue a "May Day, May Day"
call was heard on the SIERA repeater. The call was from the scene of a motorcycle head-on collision on Hwy 89 three miles west of Hwy 395. Cell
phones were not working at the crash scene so Ham radio served as another valuable link to emergency services. The link below will play the
